A Honolulu jury has convicted a man over a 2024 shooting in Kaimuki, but cleared him of the most serious charges — a mixed outcome for both sides.

• Jerem Ley was found guilty on three counts tied to an April 2024 shooting on Kaha Street.
• The jury acquitted him of several other charges, including first- and second-degree murder.
• The shooting followed a fight outside the home of Ley's ex-girlfriend.
• Ley has said he fired in self-defense after the other man came at him with a bat; the victim was shot in the stomach and beaten in the head and face, and was left critically hurt.

Outlook: Sentencing is set for December 16.
