Internal KMT rifts have surfaced publicly in Changhua, bad news for the blue camp as it prepares for the 2026 local elections.

• Changhua County Magistrate Wang Huei-mei was once again absent from the opening ceremony for the campaign headquarters of the party's candidate, Wei Ping-cheng, sending only a flower basket inscribed "may all go smoothly" rather than "win by a landslide."
• Wang had earlier broken her silence, saying she had repeatedly raised concerns about the magistrate nomination with the party's central leadership and with Cheng Li-wun but was not taken seriously, adding, "don't lay all the blame on me."
• Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen appeared in person to lend support, making a point of praising Wang's record on infrastructure and improving air pollution in an effort to cool tensions within the party.
• Blue-white cooperation in Hsinchu County has also collapsed, with the Taiwan People's Party resolving that members who campaign for candidates not nominated by the party could face expulsion at worst.
• The green camp on the same day opened a campaign headquarters for Su Chiao-hui in Banqiao, where Lai Ching-te and Tsai Ing-wen appeared together for the first time since last year's National Day, a clear show of momentum.

Outlook: With less than 90 days until the vote, the blue camp's electoral prospects may continue to be dragged down by its own divisions unless it can resolve the internal grievances in Changhua and Hsinchu.
