The race for Yunlin County magistrate has officially begun, with the Blue and Green camps' two candidates both making moves on the same day — a sign to Yunlin voters that the campaign is heating up.

• Kuomintang candidate Chang Chia-chun completed her registration, accompanied by her aunt, incumbent county magistrate Chang Li-shan.
• She is campaigning on the theme "WOW — Beyond Imagination, a Better Yunlin," highlighting AI governance, AI agriculture and an agricultural technology "Silicon Valley," with the aim of transforming Yunlin from a major farming county into a technology city.
• On the same day, Democratic Progressive Party candidate Liu Chien-kuo invited officials from the Ministry of Education's K-12 Education Administration to inspect six schools, focusing on improvements to running tracks and sports facilities.
• Renovation funding for the six schools totals more than NT$80 million, with Chunghsing Elementary School — which still has a clay running track — singled out as the most urgent case.
• Liu Chien-kuo is expected to register his candidacy on September 4, setting up a formal Blue-Green showdown.
