A group of Taiwanese entertainers admitted to faking medical results to dodge military service, and prosecutors are asking for suspended sentences plus heavy payments to the state.

• All 15 defendants at the New Taipei District Court pleaded guilty, including singer-actor Danson Tang and comedian A-Da.
• Prosecutors want 1.5 to 2 years in prison for 13 of them, suspended for 3 to 4 years, plus large payments to the public treasury and community service hours.
• The alleged ringleader faces a much harsher demand — more than five years — for faking high blood pressure test results and exploiting a hole in the draft system.
• Defense lawyers argued the men turned themselves in early, saved court time, and now earn little, asking for smaller fines and more service hours instead.
• The case grew out of a probe that started with actor Wang Da-lu, and this is already the fourth round of charges.

Outlook: The court will hand down its ruling on Oct 20, with suspended sentences the most likely result for those who confessed.
