The Taipei mayoral race has spilled onto campus, after an administrator of a LINE group for National Chengchi University freshmen changed the group's profile picture and background to a campaign photo of Democratic Progressive Party candidate Shen Po-yang, drawing pushback from students and prompting Shen himself to step in and ask that it stop.

• The administrator swapped in the images and publicly voiced support for Shen, saying he could bring change to Wenshan District.
• Several freshmen criticised the move as using a shared resource for private ends, while others said the reaction would have been entirely different had a photo of Chiang Wan-an been used instead.
• Shen personally commented asking the administrator not to do this, suggesting that if anything were posted it should be the policy platforms of both candidates, or else that a mayoral debate be held.
• The spat comes as registration for the nine-in-one elections opened today, with Shen repeatedly challenging Chiang Wan-an to a debate in recent days.

Outlook: With both sides now formally registering their candidacies, the debate over debates and political mobilisation on campus and online are only set to intensify.
